Do you love Jesus? Well, of course I do, what kind of silly question is that? Mmmm… the same response that Peter had, right? We sing about loving God, and hear about others loving Him and know the stories that explain how He loves us but I believe there are “levels” of understanding love, just like we learn about everything else in life. For instance, if knowing about love is like knowing math, we might be able to add and subtract but not have a clue about calculus or trigonometry yet both are mathematics. We might “love” our new set of wheels but have never known romantic love.
A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?
I’m reminded of a secular song I heard long time ago that says, “Why are all the good girls taken every time, every time I say hallo, they say goodbye.”
Men who have been hurt or who have used woman inappropriately will find it hard to believe decent woman exist. Others might have seen bad examples from their mothers, sisters and friends and decided that women are not worth it.
Biblical meditation is something that you may not have heard a lot about, as meditation is normally centered on the self. When you center your meditation on God, you may find that this can be a time to feel very connected to God and your beliefs. Meditation is something that has been closely related to the Bible for many years and if you look hard enough you will find many references related to meditation and this was something that was used in ancient times.
Prayer is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal, yet for many Christians this great resource seems to go untapped and overlooked. Many people never develop a growing prayer life and therefore find themselves easily frustrated and fatigued in their service for the Lord. They seem to lack clear direction and purpose in life and easily buckle under the constant onslaught of the enemy. We can never afford to cut off the very supply line that God has chosen as the means to feed and guide us as we go forth to serve him.
From the beginning of the Old Testament to the book of Revelations at the end of the New Testament, God’s people have been commanded to worship him and have been Singing His Praise since creation. The song of Deborah recorded in Judges 5:3 is a declaration of praise: “Hear this, you kings! Listen you rulers! I will sing to the Lord, I will sing: I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel.” This intent to honor the name of the Lord God Almighty has been held sacred by God’s people who continue to worship through heart-felt, spirit-filled singing.
When you have the truth of God, you have that great power over all things. You can't defeat the devil in everything. All things will be possible to you.
Every Christian parent struggles with the same questions: when should I begin teaching my child about God, how much would they be able to retain and is it important for our children to be ready to defend their faith and walk strong in an unbelieving culture at an early age. Is it two, three, kindergarten, first grade…when?
A disciple maker invests time into the spiritual growth of another person. Discipleship is following Christ in simple obedience. But where you do begin? What does a discipling relationship look like? Here are some simple guidelines to get started.
“He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep” (John 21:16).
